A Return to Simplicity.

I wasn't feeling well on Friday night so there was no stitching done for FNSI and as it turned out I was worse on Saturday and so far the rest of the week has not been much better. The doctor says I have Vestibular neuritis/Labyrinthitis which is caused by a virus affecting the inner ear  and balance which causes dizziness and nausea. I have spent the last few days at the doctors and having tests and apparently there is not much to do except ride it out and let it resolve itself. It has been hard to see the PC and don't talk about stitching, let alone walking and eating. Guess it is good for the diet! But I think I am on the mend and have been able to pick up some embroidery today for short periods of time............feels soooo good after 6 days of nothing. So I really don't have much to show for the last week but some stitchery that I did a while ago and these have been in my UFO pile waiting for somewhere to go! These are lovely Bronwyn Hayes d...

While reviewing all of the projects in the latest Homespun on the weekend I came across a quilt I knew I just had to make! Kept flipping over the pages, and saying to myself that this year would be a year of finishing off some of the UFOs but I found myself coming back to it time and time again. I thought if I can find the fabric I'll do it! Well............guess what! There's plenty of fabric around so I will be following along for the new Block of the Month - Happiness Quilt! Best of all it's a quilt as you go! I especially like the seeing the whole quilt before I start the project! Fabric is ordered (insert taping fingers here ) and the pattern is here waiting to start! Hurry up Mr Post Man and bring me my stuff! I love the look of the Ombre fabric that goes from light to dark and I have decided to buy it by the metre  instead of a kit because I am really loving the fabric and I am sure there are other things I can make with the scraps.

Wish it would move out west and give the farmers some relief! Out the front. Where I sometimes sit and stitch! Out the back! About 3 weeks ago it was looking like the wet season had passed us by, but it poured last night with more expected tonight. Good weather for the ducks. No corner was spared. At least there will be good run off into the dam now and we will be able to stay off harsh water restrictions for a while longer!

Just when I was beginning to think that our wet season had passed us by along came some welcome rain. Lovely weather for reading a book, doing some stitching or just lounging around with a coffee and a movie! I didn't get to do any of the above as I was usually at work while the rain was happening! The garden was not a pleasant place to wander around in unless you had on your wellies! The fish pond looked as if it would overflow at any minute and spill out the fish! The plants loved it! But the weekend came around ........and of course I got some time to do a little stitching. This is a lovely free stitchery pattern by Jenny and I decided to make a little pin cushion and pin keeper. It's always interesting to learn a new craft and I really don't know if you could call crayon painting with your grandson a craft, but none the less we had a go. It is really marvellous to see what we could scrounge up from the craft room! No trips to the shops as all items required were in stock right here! Preparing the canvas Melting the crayons. Both together  -  I don't expect I'll be retiring and living off the proceeds, so I think it'll be back to work. Not hard to clean up either. I joined in with others last night for Friday Night with Friends hosted by Chez, and while I stitched away I was entertained by my 9 year old grandson who was excitedly extolling the virtues of light sabres vs other weapons available to leggo characters! Let me tell you how hard it is to look at the actions of each character and continue to stitch on the lines! LOL! It takes a mini-series to explain all of the inner workings of each piece!  There was no opportunity to close ones eyes! I did however finish the stitching on my newest project and now it is ready for the next stage. I also did a bit on a new album I am making. The paper is called Tea Break by Kaiser Craft. And after a story on Better Homes and Gardens we decided we would do some melted crayon art in the morning and had a hunt around for the items we would be needing. The stitching group had a lovely time on Monday. Doing the usual things of stitching, drinking coffee and tea, eating and talking. Oh! did I mention talking! LOL! It was our turn to drive down the coast to Wendy's place and while it looked like we would be in for an imminent storm we enjoyed a lovely cool day of doing what we like the best. I wanted to stitch this design in all variegated threads, but didn't have the right colour blue, but the day was saved by Wendy as she dug into her thread stash and came out with just the right shade. I love it! We all had a lovely day, but missed our good buddy Jen who couldn't make it as she had another bad migraine that wouldn't budge!   Never mind Jen we'll make up for it next time!
