Friday Night with Friends

Image
Last night I joined up with Cheryll and 33 other friends to enjoy a night of stitching. I prepared a new applique block ready to stitch. Don't know what the finished piece will be yet......maybe a cushion or just a mini quilt, can always figure this out latter! While looking in my stash for something suitable to make the flowers from I came across this piece and decided to use the flowers whole. As I went along I used some of the petals to make the smaller ones and the butterfly wings. Very happy with the outcome. It's a happy cat in the garden! Although it was easy to put together I did do a lot of  Better Homes and Gardens watching so it probably took me longer than it should have to finish.  Anyway,  I have the new Thor DVD to watch today so I can do the blanket stitch around the flowers and  the cat's and butterfly's features. Hope everyone had a great night and thanks for stitching along with me.

Eat! Stitch! Talk!

Decided to head up to the mountains where the air is cooler and the breakfast hot and inviting to do a little stitching with friends. Nice and green and cool when you get to the top! Who can resist a delicious breakfast followed (much later) by apple pie and vanilla ice-cream? And of course the best of friends to stitch with! We did stitch but I forgot to take a photo! Don't forget to sign up for Friday Night with Friends over at Cheryll's blog .  Don't forget the give-away next week!

Digging into my stash.

Wanting to make some new place-mats I decided to dig into my stash and use up some pre-cut fabric in different shades of blue. I wanted to use predominately dark shades as these would be great to hide food stains.  I started out trying to make round ones but had a little problem getting them to lie flat so switched to square ones. I now have 3 square and 2 roundish! News Flash! Note: Please check back on the blog next week for a special give-away run in conjunction with 3 other blogs. There will be 4 chances to win a wonderful prize!
