Around the Garden in February.

Image
Up in the dry tropics of North Queensland we have had some welcome rain, and although it has not been enough to fill our main dam, which currently sits at 18% and means we will remain on Level 3 water restrictions unless there is more forthcoming, we are relishing every drop. The garden is now green and lush and plants that had been on the edge of dying are now flourishing and some like these little zinnias are just popping up from seed. Of course the chickens and ducks are loving all this green and spending lots of time out in the yard foraging for interesting bits and pieces. The native bees are buzzing in and out of the hive as every bloom must be visited.  Of course overseeing this activity are our wonderful Maremma dogs. Ghost seems to be the day shift guy because Rocky is usually asleep at this time of the morning. Don't worry he will come out if there is a disturbance. Something Lost.

Blazing Star by Nancy McNally is beautiful and should keep me out of mischief for the durati...

Despite a shocking family tragedy before Christmas we were able to come together and celebrate the season with family and friends.  No promises or new year resolutions for me as I never keep them anyway, just different plans to move forward with.  I did get time to whip up some little pouches for the table. I have joined a couple of Face Book fabric de-stash sites and am looking forward to a big clean out of fabric, patterns and bits and bobs that I won't be using.  It's a good feeling and I'm looking forward to this clean out. Another change you may have already noticed is my name. While working for Queensland Health in a management role I never wanted my name out there and just used my middle name. Of course I have not worked for them for a couple of years now and decided it's time to ....come clean!!  There will be l...
