Confused !

Well ! I was confused about whether or not it was Friday Night Sew In . . . . . . . . so . . . . . . . . .I had a couple of Nights Sew In . . . . . . . . .one last night and one Friday night. LOL !


What's better than one night of sewing with friends, than two nights !

Friday night saw me trace out a few designs to make a set of place mats. I found the pattern in Patchwork and Stitching Vol. 14 No. 1 It has a few lovely projects that I am going to have to make in this volume, but the one I chose to start with is" Flowers For Tea " by the lovely Jennifer Reynolds of  Elefantz. It  is for a tea-cosy, trivet and two placemats.

Now I don't use a tea-cosy, although I do own a few tea-pots, so I have decided to use the four embroideries to make 4 placemats instead. 






I also added a border to the last stitchery I finished . . . . . . . . . . and I hate it, so will be unpicking it sometime today.  I really don't know what I was thinking !!!!! I will have to have a proper look in my stash instead of grabbing just anything ! 


I think I need something with more blue and pink rather than the green! 
It's looking like it's going to be a lovely day here (a bit of rain over night) so I will go out to the garden for a bit (until my knees give me a hard time) and then back to the stitching and unpicking!

    It's ok Heather. When Heidi posts about FNSI i usually have 2 Friday night sew-in's but she was late posting this month. :) Though i did have a Friday night stitch-in as well with my Facebook friends. Love what you worked on.

    Your stitcheries look great. I did Friday and Saturday nights of sewing too. I really don't think it matters.

It's been a long while!

 I have decided to blog again after a lengthy absence. I guess I'm not alone, as others have decided to quit blogging and then returned. So........the story so far. I have been retired for a couple of years now and have settled into a new way of life with my hubby of 53 years. No more early starts or late finishes. When I hear the rain at night, I simply turn over and go back to sleep! You might think that I would learn to sleep in... but alas, I have not! I take my cup of tea out into the early morning light and just admire the beautiful beginning of the day.  It's very peaceful at this time of the morning with only the company of my 3 dogs. Hubby stays inside reading the paper, but that's what retirement is supposed to be....doing something or doing nothing! Lagerstroema or Crepe Myrtle As the wet season is currently keeping the yard wet, wet, wet, there is not much going on in the garden.  It is good to be participating in the sew in again, and what's even better, is that I can stitch with everyone while recuperating from a nasty respiratory virus! 😷   I have been working on A Day in Happy Land for a while now and although I have recently completed all the blocks, there is the quilting to be done. So..........now I am starting back at block one.   I started this quilt a good while ago and it was an easy and light project to take to my craft groups. Everyone would comment and tell me it would take forever to finish......I used to just laugh and keep going.   Lately the ladies have been surprised at quickly I had motored though them and that I was almost finished. I can't wait to do a show and tell! The wet season helps when you can't get into the garden and the craft room is the only option!  I think I have finish quilting blocks, 1,2,11 and 12. A Change of Pace

At a time when there are a lot of people out of work it almost seems like something crazy to do, but do it I have! What is it you ask! That's right! Taking off the high heels and giving up the work travel, putting away the laptop and the fancy bags....oh!... I might keep the bags! I do love a stylish bag.....but after 23 years in Health Management I have decided to give it all away and not work in management any more but to go back to my love of being a nurse and work very part-time. No more worrying about staffing, no more on call, no more budgets and no more full-time work, no more policies, no more reports to the health minister! My last day will be this Friday and I start on a new chapter of my life. I want to be able to do more stitching and sewing, cooking and spending time with the grandchildren. Makes it sound like it's me, me, me, me! I guess it is but it took lots of thinking and reflection on what I have achieved over the last twenty odd years...
