All Things Said and Done!
It doesn't have to be a new years resolution but inevitably there are some jobs that start out as such. Like cleaning out the pile of recipe books from Coles and Woolworths. I can't take all the blame for collecting as my daughter also collects these for me as well!
This is not the first time I have cleaned out this type of magazine and after each frenzied episode I start to gather again. I say to myself that I'm not going to collect these as there are a myriad of recipes on the net and pinterest.
So with the intention of going through the mags and saving just the recipes I might cook, I set about making a new folder cover in which to store these gems! Now I could have made an easy one like the folder above, but I need to trace and stick and applique then sew before I am satisfied!
I can't take the credit for the idea as it came from Jennifer who is also making a folder cover, although her cover is for patterns and sewing. You'll just have to wait to see it over on her blog.
The apron has tiny pockets and goodness knows what will go in these!
All done and ready to fill with the cut out pages of delicious food ideas......if only I'd cook some!
Actually I'm liking the look of that chicken recipe on the Coles mag...might start with that one first!
Maybe I'll not have to do this again.
I went to Woolworths today and guess what? NO recipe books came home with me!

Hi Rosie i have been meaning to do that for ages, love your new folder and boy your new cover is amazing, love it,hope you have a wonderful day my friend, cheers Shez xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful way of keeping your recipes. Love the apron with pockets. Rather cute. Well done resisting picking up another recipe mag.
ReplyDeleteLove your cover! And I'm so impressed you did not come home with more magazines...you can do this. LOL!
ReplyDeleteThose magazines are a temptation aren't they?? But I'm the same - never actually get around to using them - I have thrown out several over Christmas....But I do love the cover.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty folder Rosie. Hope you enjoy cooking at least some of the recipes you collect! Have to say that we have a lot in common here! lol. xx
ReplyDeleteThe cover is cute as anything! It would be great on a collection given to a daughter or daughter-in-law (or to be perfectly safe, a son or son-in-law) or a granddaughter interested in cooking.

Where do you still have a Woolworth’s? I stopped and googled Woolworth’s and it dawned on me your probably overseas and maybe Australia? This is my first time on your blog. I asked because I live in Adams Center, New York, 4 miles from Rodman, New York, the birthplace of F. W. Woolworth and less than 10 miles from one of his earliest stores and within an hour of his very first store. Plus I had relatives that worked for him early on in his career so Woolworth’s has always been a big name to my family. Well I don’t know your work well yet, but I will keep looking around and reading about your work. I stumbled on your site from Jenny’s site so I’m sure I’ll enjoy reading your blog as well.
ReplyDeleteThis recipe book cover is really wonderful, I wonder where do you actually get these ideas. Your works are really beautiful and inspirational. I love creating crafts with papers, fabrics and yarns. I have created some decorative flowers and next time I will definitely try these fabric covers.
